HISTORICAL ANTECEDENTS OF AEROLOGY IN CUBAby Luis Enrique Ramos Guadalupe, Cuban Meteorological Society. |
The following work introduces the first results of a recently concluded investigation that sheds new light on the genesis of aerologic studies in Cuba and its development during the first half of the XX century. That process appears delineated by events of singular importance, where German, Cuban and American scientists were involved. Among them stand the relevant meteorologist and geologist Dr. Cs. Alfred Wegener, to whom the merit corresponds of having carried out the first experiment with pilot globes in Cuba. Wegener is internationally known as author of the famous geodynamic model denominated “drift of the continents.”
