It developed in the afternoon of the 21st within a strong tropical wave some 600 km Southeast of the Islands of Cabo Verde very close to the coasts of Africa. This tropical storm reached the category of hurricane in the afternoon of the 22nd, continuously intensifying until it reached its maximum intensity with 165 km/h and a central pressure of 970 hPa in the early hours of the 24th, which it kept until the morning of the next day.
Jeanne moved generally between West-northwest and Northwest until the afternoon of the 26th when it turned almost North after loosing some intensity with winds between 120 and 130 km/h.
Since the early hours of the 28th, it headed almost Northeast and in the morning it gained intensity again. However, since the morning of the next day it took a course East-northeast and definitely started loosing intensity, degrading in the afternoon to tropical storm and to tropical depression in the evening loosing its tropical characteristics.
